Travel Day

We left home at 12:30 pm Monday for our flight to Norway. Most of our trips are relatively short, so we usually drive to the airport and leave the car in remote parking. However, this trip is 10 days and even in remote parking the total cost would be only about $20 less than the cost of an airport limo, so we booked the limo and enjoyed the extra convenience. Our flight boarded and departed on time despite some initial weather concerns.  The plane was a 767 which has the smallest overhead compartments. Even our international sized carry on had to be put in sideways. Also 767s only have in-seat power in business and first so we had to conserve power on our devices to last the scheduled 8 hour trip. On the upside, 767s have a 2-3-2 seat configuration so we could sit with just the two of us. The flight was smooth and I passed the time watching Mulan, Mama Mia, and snoozing. We arrived to London early Tuesday morning and were able to wait for our connecting flight to Oslo in Lufthansa's airport lounge.

When it was time to board we made our way to the SAS gate. The plane was a single cabin 3x3 configuration with no extra legroom seating. But it was only a 2 hour flight and Janet and I had a row to ourselves so it was fine. We both got a little more sleep on the flight. We arrived at Oslo about 1:30 pm Tuesday. It was a long walk through the airport but customs and immigration were easy-peasy. We spent longer waiting to get the rental car.

We have offline Google maps loaded on Janet's iPad so we can navigate our way around the country, but it was still a bit of a challenge getting to the hotel once we reached downtown Oslo. After finally getting checked in we headed out on foot sightseeing. We got back to the hotel around 8:30 pm and had dinner in the Hotel restaurant. We are both very tired from our long day. Tomorrow I'll try to put up some pictures from our Oslo odyssey.
